Under the leadership of Mayor Austin Tylec, North Tonawanda has partnered with Greenlight Networks to bring high-speed fiber-optic internet to the community. This multi-million-dollar investment will extend reliable, affordable broadband to thousands of households, boosting competition and connectivity.
Construction began in late 2023, with significant progress made by 2024. The build-out is expected to connect more than half of the city’s homes by year-end. The partnership also delivers a direct fiscal advantage; City Hall stands to save approximately $15,000 annually in internet service costs. This initiative not only modernizes the city’s digital infrastructure to support remote work and learning but also underscores the city’s commitment to smart innovation and community development.
