Mayor Austin Tylec recently helped launch Operation Step Up, a new incentive program to recruit volunteer firefighters in North Tonawanda, offering stipends, tuition assistance, and free training. Around the same time, Assemblyman Bill Conrad secured $205,000 in state funding to upgrade the city’s fire department facilities and equipment. Together, these efforts strengthen emergency response and support the city’s dedicated mix of professional and volunteer firefighters.
